Busan is located on the southeastern-most tip of the Korean peninsula and is South Korea's second largest metropolis after Seoul, with a population of around 3.6 million. It is the largest port city in South Korea and the fifth largest port in the world.
There are several options available to travel to/from Busan, Korea, including flights, trains or by ferry.
 Meeting attendees from countries that require a visa to enter Korea are reminded that the process of obtaining a visa may take several months. You are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and begin the application process early. Visa applications should be submitted for processing as early as possible, and absolutely no later than 90 days prior to travel. Flights:

International direct flight to Gimhae International Airport (Busan):

International flights are from major cities in Japan, China, the Philippines and Vietnam. In addition there are flights to Vladivostok, Bangkok, Taipei, Saipan, Macau and Hong Kong. There is also a Lufthansa service from Munich via Seoul. (Limited period' flights are sometimes scheduled from other airlines such as Singapore Airlines and Delta )

Fly to Incheon International Airport (Seoul) with direct flight connection leaving from the same airport to Gimhae International Airport (Busan): (60 minute flight)

On average, there are three domestic daily flights servicing Busan from Incheon International Airport in Seoul

Fly to Incheon International Airport (Seoul)  and transfer to the local airport , Gimpo International Airport (Seoul), using ground transportation such as the Airport Express Rail (note that you should use Seoul Subway Line 5, 9), taxi, or bus services, then fly to Gimhae International Airport (Busan): (airport transfer will take approximately one hour, and flight time to Busan is about 55 minutes)

NOTE: Although it is possible to get to Busan with this option; you may find it more convenient to make a short layover from one of the major cities outside of Korea and fly directly into Gimhae International Airport in Busan to avoid having to make local airport transfers. (Flights via Japan or China are recommended, for easy access to Busan)

KTX from Seoul to Busan:

Fly to Incheon International Airport (Seoul)  and transfer to the local train station , Seoul Station, then using ground transportation such as the Airport Express Rail (use the express service for a non-stop ride), taxi, or bus services, take the KTX train to Busan Station: (airport transfer will take approximately one hour, and travel time on the train is 2.5 hours)

Tickets can be purchased at the counter (automated English-language machines are available). Tickets may also be purchased via the Internet with an international credit card and picked up at the station. (This is very useful when planning to travel at peak times, when all tickets can quickly sell out)

Each car has a free Wi-Fi connection that is fast but cuts out in tunnels.

Ferry Boat from Japan to Busan:

Ferries leaving from the International Ferry Terminal on Busan Port Pier 1 connect Busan to the Japanese ports of Izuhara and Hitakatsu on Tsushima Island, as well as the cities of Shimonoseki, Fukuoka, and Osaka on Japan's mainland:
